If you’re an adult living with moderate to severe eczema, you may qualify for the SIERRA1 study at Cahaba Clinical Research. This Phase 2 study compares an oral investigational drug called soquelitinib with a placebo, a pill that contains no active medicine. At each visit, healthcare professionals will check your skin to track how your eczema changes over time.

Receive Diagnosis and Study-Related Investigational Medication from a Board-Certified Dermatologist

Your study care is led by Dr. Vlada Groysman, a board-certified dermatologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. You will receive a careful skin check, study-related exams, and either the investigational oral medication or placebo at no-cost. Safety is a top priority. Study Participation Criteria

Cahaba Clinical Research specializes in skin studies and prioritizes participant well-being. You may qualify if all of the following apply:

  • A doctor’s score showing moderate to severe disease

  • At least 10 percent of your body surface with eczema

  • An itch rating of 4 or higher on average over seven days before Day 1

Here is all that’s required:

2. Phone screen

A friendly recruiter will ask a few questions to see if the study may be a fit.

3. In-person visit

Come to our Birmingham clinic for a skin exam and screening tests.

4. Start the study

If you qualify, you will be randomly assigned to the investigational drug or placebo and take study pills once a day for 12 weeks.

5. Attend follow-up visits

Visits are weekly for the first two weeks, then every two weeks during treatment. After your last dose, return at 30, 60, and 90 days for follow-up checks. You will receive compensation for your time & travel at each completed visit.

This study looks at an investigational pill called soquelitinib for adults with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. It compares the study drug to a placebo to see how symptoms change over time.
Adults 18 or older with eczema for at least 1 year and moderate to severe symptoms may qualify. A study doctor will confirm if you meet the study criteria.
You will take study pills for 12 weeks. Visits are weekly for the first 2 weeks, then every 2 weeks. After the last dose, you return for follow-up at 30, 60, and 90 days.
Take the study pills each day, come to clinic visits, and share how you feel, including itch and sleep. You will have skin checks and routine tests.

Yes. Eligible participants can receive up to $1200 for time and travel. Payments are provided as you complete study visits.

No. You cannot join if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women who can become pregnant must use highly effective birth control during the study.
You cannot join if you have an active skin infection that needs pills or shots within 30 days before starting. The team will check this at screening.

Screening may take 2 to 3 hours. Most follow-up visits take about 1 to 2 hours. We do our best to keep visits on time.
