Keep reading to learn more about the clinical trial process, how to become a clinical trial participant, and the dermatology clinical trials you can sign up for today.
Step 1: Fill Out a Form and Pre-Qualify
The first step to becoming a clinical trial participant is to fill out a short form with your contact information so that we can reach out to you. Once we receive your form, a member of our staff will contact you to conduct a pre-qualifying screening call. During this call, we will explain the entire study to you and go over the informed consent form if you pre-qualify.
Step 2: Meet Us In Person to Finish Qualifying
If you pre-qualify with us over the phone, we will set an appointment with you to meet with you in person at our clinic. During this appointment, we will conduct a free medical consultation and exam (paid for by the study) to determine whether you meet the guidelines of the study. If you do, you will be asked to join.
Step 3: Come In For Study Appointments
After you are asked to join the study, you will be asked to come back to our clinic for a series of study appointments throughout a specified period of time. The length and number of these appointments will vary from study to study. Participants are compensated for their time and travel in these appointments.
Clinical trials of drugs and medical devices advance through several phases to test safety, determine effectiveness, and identify any side effects. The FDA typically requires Phase 1, 2, and 3 trials to be conducted to determine if the drug or device can be approved for further use. If researchers find the intervention to be safe and effective after the first three phases, the FDA approves it for clinical use and continues to monitor its effects.
